How to choose your width, length, and quantity
Every order we make is handmade to your spec, so the three decisions that matter most are width, length, and how many locs you need. Here's how we talk clients through each one.
Choosing your width
Width is the diameter of the finished loc, measured in millimeters. We make five widths: 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm. Smaller widths mean more individual locs across your head, more styling versatility, and a finer, more delicate look. Larger widths mean fewer locs, more visible volume per loc, and a faster turnaround. Neither is better — it's a matter of the look you want and how much density your own hair can comfortably carry.
1mm
Our finest width. The most locs per head and the most delicate result. Longest to make.
1.5mm
Fine, but slightly more substantial than 1mm.
2mm
A middle-ground width and a common starting point.
2.5mm
Noticeably fuller per loc, with fewer locs needed overall.
3mm
Our widest. The fewest locs and the most volume per loc.
Choosing your length
We make lengths from 4 inches to 24 inches. Measure from where the loc will be installed to where you want it to fall, and remember that finished locs sit with natural, tapered or loose ends rather than a blunt line. If you're between two lengths, we'd suggest talking it through with us before you order — length affects both price and production time.
How many locs do you need
Plan on 250–600 locs for a full head, depending on the density of your own hair. Fill-ins may need fewer than 50. We sell in batches of 10, 25, 50 and 100, so you can order in the combination that gets you to your number. If you're not sure where you fall in that range, a consultation is the fastest way to find out.
Color
All of our locs are 100% human hair. We offer natural colors as standard, with custom and ombré coloring available — for those, we bring in our microloc colorists.
What your choices mean for timing
Production runs 2–6 weeks. Smaller widths, longer lengths, custom color, and orders beyond 750 locs all sit at the longer end of that range, simply because there's more work in them. You have a 48-hour window after payment to change any detail; after that, production begins.
